I have some wonderful news for everyone. I've known for a while, but I want to tell everyone now because I won't be on the boards very much this week. My husband and I are going to be parents again!!! We are adopting a two-year old little boy named Darren. We are going up Tuesday to finish all of our paper work and to start our pre-placement visits. He has got such a cute personality, he's always smiling and so happy. He has Cerebal Palsy from a premature birth, and he is developmentally delayed. He was dark, silky hair and has the biggest brown eyes that I have ever seen. We are keeping "Darren" as his first name, but we will be chosing his middle name. Our surname is Adkins, so I've come up with a few names that I'd like your input on. I'd like to make a combination name of my deceased daughter's name "Bailey" and for my dear friend and her daughter that were tragically killed last week. Their names were "Kathy" and "Jenna". Please give me your input and wish us the best of luck! Of these choices I like Kenley the best. I will try to think of some other names when I get time. I don't like Jerek because if you take the last e out you get jerk... Plus Kenley combines all the names the best and sounds good with Darren. Are you in touch with the organization that helps with CP? I think they have a chapter head in Columbus. I have a friend who is involved with the National organization for CP, let me know if you need resources or info. I agree. I voted for Kenley and then looked at the votes. It's 100% for Kenley! I am just absolutely thrilled for you and family. You are such a special lady to love this child already. I was leaning towards Kenley myself. I just can't wait to bring our punkin home. It will be so nice to snuggle with a little person again and watch him grow up into adulthood. We are doing his nursery in an African Jungle theme- we totally redid everything except hang new doors. That will come in time and when we have extra $$$. Becky, I have been in contact with early intervention and the Bureau for children with medical handicaps, but no organizations for CP. I'd love more info if you have it. I just can't thank all of you enough for all your support. Why don't you use your surname? Just a thought. I am sorry to hear that you lost your friends, that is horrible. I am so happy for you to have a new baby, you will need to post those pictures and give us all the details. You know I am here for you if you want to talk about any issues with raising a special needs kiddo. Plus I know that he is two, but get him enrolled in early intervention ASAP, it may be already set up. In Indiana it is called First Steps. Be Careful on trip! I'll be looking you up when I have all these weird mommy questions!!! I am so excited for tomorrow to come. I just can't wait! He won't be coming home until at least February. We want to take it slow so the move won't traumatize him. We are going to have his foster parents be substitute grandparents since they raised him from birth.
