Hi Ladies!
I had a full abdominal hyst. this past Sept. I'm not taking any hormones at all. I feel pretty good. I have some hot flashes but thats about it so far.
The strange part is that my carpal tunnel syndrome has kicked in with a vengence.I read somewhere that menopause can bring on carpel tunnel.I'm wondering if its all hormone related and if I take hormones if the terrible pain I have in my hands will get better. I didn't have pain this bad before my surgery.
Seems strange to me that a nerve problem would have anything to do with hormones...but hey-what do I know?!
Anyone ever hear about this or know anything at all about this?

to Hyster Home. Yes the carpal tunnel can be much worse with the lack of hormones. I think if I were you I would try some progesterone cream and see if that helps. You can get a prescription for the cream from your doctor or over the counter from a health food store. The prescription stuff is generally safer but there are a few over the counter brands that are ok and do not contain other things that you don't want. I know that emerita makes one called progest and there is one called femgest that is pretty decent too. I would suggest a book by Dr John Lee called "what your doctor may not tell you about menopause" Read up on it and then ask your doctor about it. I am not sure if it would get rid of your pain but it might make it considerably better. My guess is that it may take a few weeks to notice the difference. I would give it three months for a good trial period.
