Hello Ladies,*WARNING LONG STORY!!!*
Let me start by explaining my situation. I am bi-polar and for over the past year I have been on Risperdal Shots (1 every other week). During this year I never had a real period...every once in a blue moon I would spot, but nothing more than a few drops. Finally after talking with my wonderful home therapist, Nancy, she begged me to go to the Dr, after all I hadnt been to a Dr of any kind in about a 1 1/2 years. Bcuz of her, I found out that I was diabetic, high blood pressure and my PAP came back VERY abnormal. Immediatly my family Dr referred me to a Ocn/GYN.
I went to my Ocn/Gyn for another PAP. It came back VERY abnormal. The Dr there told me he would feel alot better if I would consider a Hysterectomy. We talked alot and I decided ok, I mean I had all my babies and my tubes where cut. Well we schedualed the hyst for 11/08/05. I went into the hospital with bags packed, got into the pre-op room, did blood work, IVs inserted, gown on, all that good stuff....when Dr came in. Oh Lord now what. He told me he changed his mind, he decided we would do a Cone Procedure and I would get to go home within 3 hours. We did just that...he cut a large part of my cervix out and had it tested. 2 days later I was at work and got a call from the DR himself, I dang near died of heart faliure. He never calls, its always his nurse Donna! He called to tell me I had Cervical Cancer 1a1! And I had to have a Hysterectomy, no questions asked!
So I went into the office, sat and talked with him and his nurse for some time and decided I had to wait at least 3 weeks after the 1st surgery before we could have another surgery. I healed fine from the 1st and was set up for 12/06/05.
On 12/06/05 (Tuesday), I went in that morning at 530am, about 730 a nurse came out and appologized, they changed my time. Yep, it wasnt until 1pm. Mind you I had to drive 1 hour to the hospital in the begging, so we were not going home. They got me in pre-op at 11am. And was under way by noon!
Apparently everything went fine in surgery, but whne I woke up...the nurse asked if I was hurting and the only thing I could say was "YES, my vigina hurts"! She explained he tried to do the hyst vag but I have a long vag tunnel that he had to do abdominal (whichis what we talked about and was prepared for inthe beginning). Then I told her I felt sick....as she handed me the lil bucket, I puked all over her! She got mad and said, "sure you didnt have anything after midnight" I was mad, after all I hadnt eaten since about 4pm the day before and all that was chicken broth as Dr told me I could have!!!
I finally got to my room and I had the BEST nurse. She got me over into my bed, fixed everything up like it was suppose to be, hooked up my Motphine pump and hit the button several times before she left me! I would wake up long enough to get vitals then out like a light again. The next day I felt so good even though I was sore. I got up took a shower and went walking all over my wing! Nurses kept cominting me on how well I was doing.
Friday rolled around and I was told I could leave so I called my ride and she got there while I was packing up. She was there about 30 minutes when the nurse came in and told me I had ran a fever the night before and the DR wanted me to stay another night. I busted out into tears, explain if I didnt get the money for the electric bill at their office by 4pm, they would turn off my lights. She appologized and said she would be back. She apparently got the Dr out of surgery and talked to him, still NO! My friend left, heading about 1 1/2 hours away to a job site. 1 hour after she left the DR came in and I was still crying, he explained to me what was going onand told me if I promised to REST and take Antibiotics he would let me go home. So I had to call a different ride to come get me bcuz Trini was so far away by this time.
That day whiel in the hospital the DR came in and talked to me, letting me know what the pathology reports said. CANCER FREE, he said! And was able to leave overies. Man was that a relief.
Anyways here it is 4 weeks and I go on the 4th of Jan for my check up. I have been sick 3 times since surgery but am doing better now! I am just glad I had this surgery done. I feel alot better now!
Sorry my story was so long! Wishing you all the best!
Susan
