Hey there |

Hey everybody, my name's Mike. Being a guy, I obviously can't have a hysterectomy done, but my mother needed to have one done, and I am a med student going into OB/GYN. I don't want to be an unfeeling doctor who can't know what his patient is going through, so I basically would like to get a feel for how women deal with it and feel about it, as well as offer any support or information I can.
I hope that didn't come off as pompous, because it is with the best intentions. Mike |

Hey Mike,
I have a younger Brother that is a Doctor. He's an Anesthesiologist. He's amazed by my knowledge of information about my surgery and especially now with the "estrogen scare." I've been able to gather most my knowledge from sites like this & quite honestly didn't even have a brochure from my Surgeon or her office staff before my surgery. Most of my questions & issues came after my surgery. I feel that I'm better prepared now when I visit my Doctor for a yearly exam with questions & issues. Hope this helps. Hi'ya Mike!
I think it is wonderful you are preparing yourself for the emotional needs of your patients. I had my Hysterectomy at 27 years of age. What I would've wished he would have done differently was have more information on Bio-Identical HRT. Especially progesterone. I wasn't aware of the health risks of traditional HRT until I found this site. ![]() SAH/BSO August 2003 due to Endo & fibroids Feel free to email me with any questions or concerns: danibanani76@hysterhome.com |
