I do know that the first week is the hardest, but if she is really having a tough time she should call her doctor and perhaps they can help her out.

I know that some women have been given medications to help them get through the emotional upsets...I am not sure if your Mom needs them but she should talk to her doctor about how she is feeling emotionally.

As far as being comfortable sleeping...well that is tough. I know that I laid in bed for a few days sleeping on and off day and night. It was very distressing for my husband to see but for me it was just something I had to get past.

You might try to get her some pillows to arrange on each side of her and under her knees. I found that made me feel a lot better

I went through a couple days where I just wanted to be left alone.....you might ask her if she wants to be left alone and give her a bell or something if she needs you.

If she is having hot flashes she might feel better with a cool rag on her forehead. Or a fan in her room that she can control. I know they make fans that you can control with a remote control and they are not too bad.

I remember the smallest things just wearing me out...but sometimes even though it took everything to take a shower it would make me feel better.

You can ask her if she would like an ice pack for her tummy. If you wrap it in a towel so it is not too cold it can help with pain plus it might cool her off.

I am sure you want to help her but it could be that she is afraid to turn down your suggestions. So you might want to give her choices like. Would you like me to rub your feet or would you rather I left you alone.

I am sure the other ladies have some suggestions for you too.

Tell her that we are thinking of her and to not hesitate to call her doctor if she feels she can not handle what she is feeling.

I wonder if the pain meds are not agreeing with her. I have a hard time with pain meds, they make me feel really irritable and anxious. Like I am tired but in a fog and can't really sleep well. Maybe her doctor can suggest a medication change.
