I'm 43 y/o mother of 3 with absolutely no plans on having more children. My problem is one very large fibroid. I saw a second GYN today and tomorrow have a consult with the radiologist for a possible UAE. I'm torn. Hysterectomy or UAE. I have to do something. I'm anemic and I just can't stand the heavy long periods anymore. I'd love to hear your stories if you've had a UAE. Thank you for your help. Louise

I have never heard of a UAE, I will have to do some research on it. It sounds like you are doing the right thing in getting several opinions from doctors before you decide what to do. It was actually blood loss and thickened endometrium that made me make the decision to have my hyster, I too was anemic, almost to the point of needing a transfusion and I just could not go on like that anymore. Today I am blood-loss free and my iron level is normal and I feel great! Take the time to make your decision, you can't undue a hyster, so, you want to make sure what is best for your body and your quality of life. Keep us posted on what you decide...Take Care..... While I've not had personal experience with UAE, I have heard of the procedure. I agree with Margie that this is a decision that you need to make after carefully weighing all your options with your Doctor.
